About Natural Yarn

E-mail Print PDF

As a member of the Mid Essex guild of weavers, spinners and dyers, I have long had a passion for anything relating to natural fibres, and especially sheep fleeces with the diverse range of wool produced by the numerous breeds of sheep.

Natural Yarn SheepThe idea for a natural yarn website came to me when I purchased a quantity of Shetland sheep fleeces from the  Essex Wildlife Trust.  I washed and sorted the fleeces and sent them off to The Natural Fibre Company, an organically registered mill, for processing into yarn.  I was so thrilled with the results that I have added to the range since then with Manx Loaghtan, Norfolk Horn, White Faced Woodland, Portland and Hebridean from Wimpole Hall farm in Cambridgeshire and Jacob from a local smallholder.  I have designed a few patterns to complement the various wools and these can be found in the kits section.  I also use Teddy patterns designed by Sandra Polley and Bunny patterns designed by Amanda Berry for the teddy and bunny kits which can be found in the toy kits section.

If you have questions regarding any of the yarns, please contact me via the contact page.
